Marsha L. Skillicorn, CPA, MBA
Executive Director

Ms. Skillicorn received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Wyoming and an MBA from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2001 she was appointed the position of CFO for Southwest Retirement Corporation, the management company for Wooddale Village. Ms Skillicorn's work ethics quickly earned her the respect and trust of Southwest Corporation and the added responsibilities of the overall operation of Wooddale Village. She contributes the strength of leadership, integrity and excellence necessary to operate one of Sun City's most respected independent retirement communities. Originally from Wyoming, Ms Skillicorn now resides with her family in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Sharon Kelly
Marketing Director

In 1998, when Mrs. Kelly joined Wooddale Village, she brought over twenty-five years of experience in the hospitality industry to our community. Mrs. Kelly has leveraged her background with organizations such as the Hyatt, Sheraton, Hilton and Doubletree corporations to enhance the experience of every Wooddale Village customer. Today, Mrs. Kelly’s focus is in developing programs and standards for Wooddale Village rarely seen in retirement communities. Mrs. Kelly's customer relations and resort destination skills offer a winning combination for all of the Wooddale Village residents.

Charlene Young-Stinnette
Public Relations

Charlene joins Wooddale Village with great enthusiasm and knowledge in the arena of public speaking, educational seminars, editorial communication, trade shows, committee and fund raising events. With over 25 years experience as a flight attendant for Western Airlines and Public Relations for British Airways and Home Care, her abilities are impressive and have gained her respect within the Sun Cities.


Marsha Chavez
Activities Director

Marsha Chavez has brought joy to the residents of Wooddale Village since 1995. As a daughter of an Air Force officer, Marsha, has traveled the world and gained a keen perspective on life. This life education has been put to good use at Wooddale Village where her impeccable work ethics have advanced her to high levels of responsibility. Her extraordinary dedication and enthusiasm contributes to a creative and diversified activity program for those who enjoy life at Wooddale Village.


Charles J. Mackin
Executive Chef
Chef Charles has sixteen years experience in the food service industry, and attended three years of Culinary School at Seattle Central Community College. Chef Charles was awarded the British/American Study Abroad Fellowship in 1999 and spent this time in Brighton, England working at the Hilton Bedford Hotel. Other experience includes (but not limited to) Sierra Pointe Retirement Community in Scottsdale, Arizona, L'Auberge Resort and Spa in Del Mar California, Delicias Restaurant in Rancho Santa Fe, California, The Rainier Club in Seattle, Washington, The Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, Washington, and Roche Harbor Resort on San Juan Island, Washington. Chef Charles is also a member of the A.C.F. (American Culinary Federation) and was awarded an A.C.F. Culinary Diploma for the Western Baron H. Galand Knowledge Bowl Competition. Chef Charles is a native to Central California's San Joaquin Valley and currently resides in Mesa, Arizona with his wife and sons.

 

Roger CheneyRoger Cheney
Chairman and Co-founder


Mr. Cheney is Chairman and co-founder of Southwest Retirement Corporation and General Partner of premier retirement apartment communities in Arizona including Wooddale Village-Sun City.

Additionally, his present ownership and management responsibilities include involvement in development, management, construction and ownership of senior oriented care and housing in Arizona since 1974. These activities have resulted in the creation of over 1,800 units with almost 1,500 specific units exclusively in Arizona.

Previously, Mr. Cheney was actively engaged in the practice of law in Phoenix and served as law clerk to Justice Jack D. H. Hays of the Arizona Supreme Court, and as an assistant Attorney General of the State of Arizona. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (honor society) from Arizona State University in 1967 and received his Juris Doctor as a member of the Charter Class at Arizona State University College of Law in 1970.

Among the other interests Mr. Cheney is committed to higher education and has served as Chairman of the Board of Southwestern College in Phoenix, Arizona.

 

Sherman RovigSherman M. Rorvig
Managing Partner

Mr. Rorvig is President and Co-founder of Southwest Retirement Corporation and General Partner of premier retirement apartment communities in Arizona including Sierra Pointe-Scottsdale and Wooddale Village-Sun City. He has been involved in the operation and development of senior housing in Arizona and Texas for over 29 years. Since 1976, Mr. Rorvig has been actively involved in the development of five retirement communities. He has served as President of Arizona Association for the Aging and was a member of Delegates to the American Association for Homes and Services for the Aging.
